Apostille in the People's Republic of China
Starting from 7 November 2023, the People’s Republic of China will issue Apostille on Chinese public documents to be used in contracting member states of the Convention of Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents (hereafter referred to as the Convention), consular legalization will no longer be issued to the documents.
As a contracting party of the Convention, if a Chinese document has been issued with an Apostille, Danish missions will no longer legalize the document.
Before a Chinese document can be used in Denmark, it has to be notarized by a Chinese notary office and then issued with an Apostille by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or by an authorized office appointed by the Chinese MFA.
When the document is submitted to notary office, it will automatically be translated into English.
Applicants may also bring their notarized document directly to the reception of Consular Affairs Department of Chinese MFA, with pre-booked appointment.
For application procedure, processing time, authorized offices for handling Apostille applications, please refer to website of Consular Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.
