Danish Foreign Minister to visit China

Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark Lars Løkke Rasmussen will visit China from 16th to 18th of August, at the invitation of Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi.
Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen will travel to China for a three-day trip involving two stops – Shanghai and Beijing.

The visit is to develop further bilateral cooperation in the green sectors of mutual interest, as well as to deepen commercial ties between Denmark and China.

The Minister’s journey will begin with a site visit to Shanghai Tower, the world’s third tallest building, to learn how Danish green solutions and know-how contribute to local energy efficiency efforts.

During his stay in Beijing, the Foreign Minister will also meet Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao and Vice President Han Zheng.

On Friday, 18th of August, the Foreign Minister and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi will exchange opinions on a broad variety of topics including green cooperation and global security. The ministers will discuss a new bilateral China-Denmark Joint Work Programme.

“The previous China-Denmark Joint Work Programme expired in 2020, and we have engaged in constructive negotiations over a new program during the past months. I hope we can agree on a new work program with a narrower focus on green cooperation within climate, energy, environment and health. These are all areas where Denmark offers sustainable green solutions of high international standards, and where our cooperation can contribute to reducing global carbon dioxide emission,” elaborated the Foreign Minister.

The upcoming trip will mark Lars Løkke Rasmussen’s first visit to China since becoming Foreign Minister. He will be accompanied by a number of Danish corporate representatives.
