Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod presents changes in the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Today the Danish Foreign Minister, Mr. Jeppe Kofod, presented the conclusions of a comprehensive review of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The objective of the review was to assess how the Ministry of Foreign Affairs could deliver on the Government’s priorities.

One of the conclusions is that Denmark will restructure its presence in China by closing the Danish Consulate General in Chongqing by 1 December 2021. However, Denmark’s strong commitment to work with and within China is unchanged. Denmark will keep the same level of engagement in China as the number of staff employed at Danish diplomatic missions in China working on commercial matters will not be reduced. Staff positions in Chongqing will be transferred to our diplomatic missions in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou from where they will continue to promote commercial relations and support the strategic cooperation between Denmark and China.
