The Royal Danish Consulate General in Guangzhou is looking for full time Visa Officers to join the Consulate General’s visa team.

The Danish Consulate General in Guangzhou is the regional visa hub for China and Japan responsible for issuing all short-term visas to the Kingdom of Denmark.

 

Job description
The Visa Officer will be working in the Visa and Consular Team and reports to the Head of the Visa Hub. As visa officer, you will be part of a busy and dynamic team, where your attention to detail in every single case is combined with your ability to actively contribute to the team and to its ongoing development. Your work will consist of handling visa applications from Chinese as well as other foreign citizens going to the Schengen area. The demand in China for visas to the Schengen area is increasing, and there is a great focus on visa and consular services from both Danish and Chinese authorities, companies and individual citizens.

After thorough onboarding by experienced colleagues, you will be familiar with complex Danish and Schengen legislation and be able to handle applications in an efficient and competent manner with a high level of service.

 

Main tasks and responsibilities 

  • Case processing of visa applications as well as residence permit
  • Thorough and correct data entry
  • Interview with applicants/hosts
  • Show great thoroughness and responsibility in your work
  • Ensuring compliance with the Schengen visa rules and Danish legislation
  • Assistance with other visa related or consular related tasks within the team.

     

    About you

  • Must have a clean criminal record and obtain a Police Clearance Certificate; the Danish authorities will also perform a background check
  • A bachelor’s degree or similar administrative qualifications and/or relevant working experience
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently and efficiently
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to assist Danish and Chinese citizens with various matters
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese. Knowledge of Danish language is an advantage, but not a requirement
  • Experience from working in a cross-cultural environment is an advantage
  • Assertive personality and ability to maintain competent case handling and a smile in difficult situations
  • Flexible towards work tasks and working hours

    Employment conditions

  • You will be offered full time employment on a local contract based on the relevant legally binding labour market rules of China
  • Your standard working hours will be 40 hours per week including one hour lunch with flexibility in organizing your own daily working hours
  • You will be entitled to 20 days of paid holiday per year. In addition, you will be entitled to a number of paid local holidays
  • Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant experience and proven work-related results in accordance with the Danish China Missions’ salary policy

About us

The Royal Danish Consulate General is part of the Danish Foreign Service.
