Ambassador to China and Mongolia Thomas Østrup Møller

Ambassador's background

Ambassador Thomas Østrup Møller was nominated as Ambassador of Denmark to China in September 2020. He is also Denmark’s Ambassador to Mongolia.

From 2017 to 2020, he worked as Commissioner for Corporate Management of the Danish National Police – the highest authority within Danish Police. From 2015 to 2016, he worked as Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Danish Ministry of Justice.

Thomas Østrup Møller has served the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Ambassador to Poland (2010-2012) and as Under-Secretary for Resources and Operations (2012-2015). Earlier postings included: Economic Counsellor at the Royal Danish Embassy in Berlin, Germany, First Secretary at the Royal Danish Embassy in Cairo, Egypt, and Head of Section for NATO Affairs. 

He has a degree as M.Sc. in Economics from University of Copenhagen, and has also studied at prestigious educational institutions such as John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Thomas Østrup Møller is Knight 1st Class of the Order of the Dannebrog (Denmark).
