Health Team

Being the world’s second largest market, the health and life science industry in China is one of the most attractive industries for Danish companies. In addition, the ageing population and the growing Chinese middle class continuously provide a large and stable consumer base, further adding to the industry’s attractiveness.

The Danish and Chinese authorities have a strong and close collaboration, which gives Danish companies and institutions a unique opportunity to interact with the Chinese authorities. The Health Team from the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Beijing supports the collaboration between China National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) and the Danish Medicines Agency (DKMA) with the establishment of “China-Denmark Food and Drug Regulatory Cooperation Centre”.

The Strategic Sector Cooperation between Denmark and China in the field of health aims at increasing access to care through effective management of health systems in China. The methodology of the SSC-project is multifaceted, focusing both on facilitation of workshops, development of new guidelines, review of legal frameworks etc.

The Danish-Chinese government-to-government cooperation consists of two sub-projects signed in Beijing in January 2019, including mental health disorders with emphasis on detection of disorders as well as non-communicable diseases (NCD’s), marking the formal launch of the cooperation.

How can we help you?
The Health and Life Science Team is a central part of the Trade Council in China, and it has dedicated employees with substantial sector experience and understanding of sector specific challenges.

Through specialization, both as a team and as individual team members, the key strength of the Health Team is our in-depth knowledge about market segments. Being a team of commercial specialists within the Chinese health sector, we advise Danish health companies on their strategy for penetrating the attractive but complex Chinese market. Additionally, knowledge and competences in government relations and public affairs, regulatory affairs, public health policy, medical product safety, stakeholder management, as well as quality program issues in China etc., the Health Team can therefore provide clients with an in-depth understanding of the latest market changes and a way to establish contact with relevant authorities. Hence, our good relations with relevant authorities gives us a valuable network to both public institutions and private corporations, which Danish companies operating in China can benefit from.

In order to provide clients with the best possible service, we focus on selected key segments within the Chinese market as well as on selected key services.
These include:

  • Medical devices and equipment
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Rehabilitation equipment
  • Digital Solutions

In addition, knowledge about Chinese legislation as well as good relations with authorities can prove crucial in order to succeed in the Chinese market. Therefore, we engage in extensive government to government and government to company collaboration, which enables us to provide our clients with an in-depth understanding of the latest market changes and a way to establish contact with relevant authorities. In this way, we help clients identify, prioritize and liaise with key stakeholders, thus providing them with a good overview of – and access to – Chinese decision-makers.

Through specialization – both as a team and as individual team members – the key strength of the Health Team is our in-depth knowledge about market segments and our good relations with relevant authorities. This gives us a valuable network to both public institutions and private corporations, which Danish companies operating in China can then benefit from.
