The Danish Consulate General in Guangzhou is searching for a number of energetic and systematic persons for the position as locally employed Visa and Consular Officers for employment as soon as possible.

You will be part of a busy and dynamic team, where your attention to detail in every single case is combined with your ability to promote the overall Danish interests in China.

Job Description
Your work will primarily consists of handling visa applications from Chinese citizens going to Schengen. The demand for visa to Schengen is constantly increasing and there is great focus on our work from both Danish and Chinese authorities. Your job will be to handle the cases in a service minded way, while you also show that you can manage the Schengen rules. You will take part in making the final decision for approvals or rejection of applications. In practice, it involves interviews with hosts in Denmark, assessment of the information on the application and supporting documents put forward by the applicants, always paying attention to details.

You should display sound judgement, efficiency and ability to handle complex Schengen rules, always delivering results with a high level of service that will match Denmark’s elevated reputation in China.

We are looking for a team-player, who delivers a high level of service, efficiency and attention to detail.

  • Relevant education or/and other relevant work experience
  • Good language skills: fluent in Danish/other Nordic language and/or English. Knowledge of Chinese language is an advantage, but not a requirement
  • Sense of detail in each case combined with the ability to see the visa work as an important part of presenting Denmark as an attractive country
  • Experience with working in a cross-cultural work place
  • Assertive personality and the ability to handle stressful and difficult situations with a smile and in a competent manner
  • Flexible towards work tasks and hours

Employment conditions

  • Standard working hours of 40 hours per week including 1 hour lunch 
  • 20 annual paid holidays and minimum 11 closing days per year, in accordance with the legally binding labour market rules and the local staff rules 
  • 80% coverage of the Embassy’s Health Insurance plan 
  • Salary in accordance with the China Missions’ salary policy, which reflect qualifications and relevant experience 
  • Workplace pension scheme
