The Danish Consulate General in Guangzhou is looking for Deputy Head of Team Visa and Consular Affairs

Location:          The Royal Danish Consulate in Guangzhou

The Consulate is looking for a dynamic, positive, detail-oriented and open-minded senior visa and consular officer for the position as Deputy Head of Team Visa and Consular Affairs.

You will be working in a team currently consisting of 22 visa and consular officers, and which is expanding with minimum 10 more colleagues in 2020 as Guangzhou will become visa HUB for all China and Japan as of 1st of July 2020.

The position as Deputy Head of Team Visa and Consular Affairs (Deputy Head of Visa HUB) will give you the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and international work place that will give you rich opportunity for personal and professional development.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Be acting team/HUB leader in the absence of the Consul (Team Leader)
  • Together with Team Leader to secure that the visa processing in the team is in compliance with the rules and instructions given
  • Coordinate with the Consul regarding issues and matters concerning the functioning of the team
  • Assisting visa sections in complicated cases
  • Communication with Foreign Ministry and Danish Immigration Service
  • Residence and work permits, mostly guidance and help to colleagues
  • Processing of visa applications as CW2, quality check on refusal cases
  • Responsibility and surveillance of consular assistance to Danish citizens


  • Relevant higher education
  • Good management skills
  • Relevant work experience, experience with Schengen visa case handling
  • Fluent in English and in Danish or any other Nordic Language orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of Chinese is an advantage, but not a requirement
  • Service-minded and a good team player
  • Detail oriented and a high integrity and ability to handle stressful situations

Terms of Appointment:

You will be offered full-time, permanent employment on a local contract based on the
China Missions’ employment and salary conditions.
Your salary will reflect your experience and skills.

About us:
Annually, The Consulate General handles around 15,000 applications for visas and
residence/work permits. From July 2020 this number is expected to minimum double
when the Consulate becomes a visa-HUB.
