The Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Beijing is an ambitious and dynamic workplace. We promote the bilateral relations between Denmark and People’s Republic of China in the field of Health and Life Science.
The Health & Life Science team is a energic and agile team, which currently consists of 2 posted diplomats and 5 local staff. The team task is to provide knowledge, support and commercial activities to Danish companies in China.
You will be in touch with Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Danish Health authorities, companies in Denmark and China and Chinese authorities and organisations, providing support to the Danish commercial interest in the field.
Main tasks and responsibilities
The embassy’s Health & Life Science Team plays a key role in promoting Danish strongholds to China and is responsible for planning and executing the embassy’s ongoing outreach efforts including contact to Chinese authorities.
Being a team of commercial specialists within the Chinese health sector, we advise Danish health companies on their strategy for penetrating the attractive but complex Chinese market. Additionally, knowledge and competences in government relations and public affairs, regulatory affairs, market access, R&D, stakeholder management, as well as basic intellectual property knowledge in China etc., the Health Team can therefore provide clients with an in-depth understanding of the latest market changes and a way to establish contact with relevant authorities. Hence, our good relations with relevant authorities gives us a valuable network to both public institutions and private corporations, which Danish companies operating in China can benefit from.
For this position, focus is on supporting and guiding Danish companies that are already present in China or are considering entering the market. This includes proactively identifying commercial opportunities, engaging with relevant stakeholders, and promoting the increased success of Danish companies. You will play a key role in fostering business partnerships with Danish companies and selected Chinese partners and stakeholders.
You will work in a regional setting with other commercial advisors at Danish missions in China. You will be responsible for the day-to-day work of your tasks in cooperation with other team members. Some travel internally in China and to Denmark is expected.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Work strategically with Danish companies bringing strong skills within stakeholder management and service delivery.
- Identification of new strategic possibilities and business relations for Danish companies.
- Deliver on KPIs together with the rest of the Commercial Team and ensure that the regional KPIs are met.
- Client focus and deliver strong value to involved companies.
- Business Development in close cooperation with the Team, and in coordination with other Danish missions in China.
- Ensure compliance with CRM-system, time registration, GDPR, travel budget etc.
- Building and maintaining networks and relations with relevant government officials and contacts in China.
The Team is also involved in organizing events at the embassy as well as in cooperation with external partners. You may also be involved in the planning and execution of ministerial visits, parliamentary visits, and other high-level engagements.
Qualifications
We are looking for a colleague who:
- Holds an academic degree, preferably in health, life science or Medicine, pharmacy, public health, international relation/trade.
- Has minimum a few years of experience with Chinese Health authorities, Health-related topics, organisations, pharmaceutical industry.
- Experience with commercial consultancy is an advantage but not a prerequisite.
- Has a high proficiency in English (fluent both oral and written). Chinese (oral and written is an advantage).
- Has an ability to prioritise tasks and works independently and pro-actively.
- Has highly developed planning and project execution skills and pays great attention to details.
- Contributes to a positive working environment.
- A high sense of responsibility and good at managing several tasks at the same time.
- Pro-active personality with the ability to foster and maintain networks within your field.

Salary and employment conditions
The employment is 40 hours per week. You will be employed on local employment terms and your salary will reflect your qualifications and experience. The selected candidate must undergo a security clearance prior to signing the employment contract.

About us
The Embassy of Kingdom of Denmark in Beijing is part of the Danish Foreign Service. The embassy is an ambitious, high-paced and dynamic workplace with approximately 70 employees, of whom 26 are posted from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The embassy has a flat management structure.
