Our green experts

Birla Troen Klixbüll
As the Sector Counsellor for Food and Agriculture at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Beijing, it is my primary responsibility to facilitate the Strategic Sector Cooperation (SSC) project within food and agriculture. I work with food safety and sustainable food production from farm-to-fork China.

Mutual understanding between Denmark and China can bring Danish companies high standards on food safety into play. Through seminars and workshops we obtain a better understanding of the Chinese framework within food and agriculture, and generate a platform for Danish companies to showcase and promote knowledge and solutions within sustainable food production from farm-to-fork.

Sune Kåre Sørensen
As Climate and Energy Attaché, I am directly involved in green diplomacy and support Denmark's strategic priorities in the climate and energy field in China. My work involves i.a. setting forth the dialogue with China in relation to international climate policy, green transition, Danish leadership within SDG 7 on clean energy for all, and to contribute to the embassy's work as a climate front post. I also support the bilateral government cooperation, where Chinese and Danish authorities exchange experiences within e.g. long-term energy planning, development and integration of renewable energy, development of electricity markets, district heating and offshore wind.

Many Chinese and Danish companies can provide green solutions that can help accelerate the green transition, and therefore I work with The Trade Council to ensure synergy between government cooperation, the embassy's commercial activities and the goal of reducing China's CO2 emissions.

Another very important part of my work is to build bridge to civil society and put climate on the agenda of the Chinese people.

As the Sector Counsellor on Environment at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark, I contribute to China's green transition in collaboration with the Danish and Chinese authorities. Our Strategic Sector Cooperation (SSC) project focuses on both wastewater management and groundwater protection with the aim to improve the water environment and safeguard the water resources. SSC is multifaceted as it also supports the bilateral relations and engages the private sector in identifying sustainable development solutions and opportunities.

Allan Bertelsen
As Sector Counsellor for Energy at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Beijing, I am directly involved in the cooperation between China and Denmark working towards their respective ambitions of carbon neutrality by 2060 and 2050. My primary responsibility is to facilitate the Strategic Sector Cooperation on energy and thereby strengthening the Sino-Danish knowledge transfer to overcome market and regulatory barriers in order to promote a green energy transition.

My objective is to establish a conducive and enabling environment for the development of district heating in China using renewable energy and local resources in combination with best practices from Denmark's experience with energy transition.

Our project maintains close cooperation between China's National Energy Administration (NEA), China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute (CREEI) and the Danish Energy Agency (DEA).

As a Maritime Counsellor at the embassy in Beijing, I work with Chinese and Danish authorities to reduce maritime climate footprint, create a sustainable shipping industry and improve the conditions for the UN-SDGs.

A strong motivation for me is that authorities, researchers, and the private sector work together to find maritime technologies and solutions that improve the climate and environment for future generations. At the same time, our work brings green Danish technologies and solutions into play and creates growth and jobs in Denmark.
