Summer concert with Copenhagen Royal Chapel Choir

Deputy Head of Mission, Helle Meinertz, opened the concert and the reception in the embassy yard while Beijing unveiled its beauty with blue sky and sunshine.
Leading the choir was the choirmaster and artistic director Ebbe Munk, who had made a special repertoire for the event.
The title of the concert was ‘Sounds for Summer and Spring in Scandinavia – From Sunrise to Sunset’. The concert was a musical adventure and a celebration of the light and happiness of Scandinavia, inspired by H.C. Andersen.
30 boys and 14 men opened the concert with several beloved and well-known Danish songs, such as “I Skovens Dybe Stille Ro” and “I Danmark er jeg født”.

For the Chinese audiences, the concert reached its climax when the choir started singing famous Chinese songs in beautiful and flawless Chinese.

The Copenhagen Royal Chapel Choir have visited China several times- the first in 1997 and the last visit was in 2010 when His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik participated in the EXPO in Shanghai.
Friends of the Royal Danish Embassy and 200 specially invited guests attended the summer concert, amongst the guests were members of Beijing’s local ministries.
