19.12.2017  09:20
In November, Design School Kolding sent 14 students to
Shanghai for the annual workshop with College of Design and Innovation at Tongji University.

This year’s topic was “Sustainability as new business – environmental service design in Shanghai”. During the workshop, the students worked in groups to create ‘interaction and experience design’ for Shanghai’s metro system.

Friday 15th December, the results of the students’ work were presented to the metro and stakeholders in the Siping area. And so, it was time to reflect on the experiences: “It has been really great. I think we can learn something from each other and it has been so much fun”, says Fifa, a student from Design School Kolding. Ayo, another student from Design School Kolding: “It has been really fun and challenging opening new doors. Working with the Chinese university has really given me a lot of self-awareness about where I come from and what you can get from the Danish education compared to what you can get from the Chinese education. Of course I learnt a lot from both sides”.

Moreover, the professors also agreed that the corporation had been good. “It has worked really smoothly this year. This is already the 10th year of this corporation and it has become a big feature of our curriculum - one we are very proud of”, says Peter Barker, Head of Industrial Design, Design School Kolding.

The participants in the workshop were master students of Environmental Design from Shanghai International College of Design and Innovation, Tongji University, international exchange undergraduate students as well as undergraduate students from both Design School Kolding and College of Design and Innovation, Tongji University.
