22.11.2017  03:18
Due to rapid modernization and development, water is becoming an increasingly scarce resource in China. China’s latest 5-year-plan emphasizes the creation of a sustainable future, which has created a potential for innovative Danish waste water technologies and know-how on the Chinese market.

A new step for Danish-Chinese collaboration within waste water treatment was thus made in Shanghai, when Danish Cleantech Hub (with funding from the Trade Council and Industrien’s Fond) organised seminars and presentations on Danish water solutions the 4th and 5th of May at Chinas leading Environmental Event, IE EXPO.

The two-day fair was supported by State of Green, Innovation Center Denmark in Shanghai, Confederation of Danish Industry and The Chinese Ministry of Environmental Protection.

The seminars were opened by Executive Director of State of Green, Finn Mortensen, and contained keynote speakers such as Danfoss’ Global Segment Director, Mads Warming and Danish Consul General to Shanghai, Nicolai Prytz. Nicolai Prytz emphasized the importance of the political-strategic focus on waste water partnerships between China and Denmark. Furthermore, Mr. Luo Hailin, Chief Deputy Director of Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau, elaborated on the collaboration opportunities for Danish companies in connection with the Shanghai 2020 Environmental Plan.

Prominent Danish companies including Grundfos, Novozymes and Danfoss presented their technologies targeted waste water treatment, and Aarhus Vand delivered a speech on how the world leading Marselisborg Wastewater Treatment Plant not only has beaten the Carbon Neutral target but also has increased its efficiency to produce 40 % more electricity than it consumes.
