The Danish Embassy in Beijing is searching for energetic and systematic persons for positions as locally employed Visa and Consular Officers. You will be part of a young and dynamic team of 12 colleagues. The team handles more than 12.000 applications for visa and residence permits to Denmark per year, as well as assisting Danes with consular cases.

Job Description
As a Visa Officer, your work will primarily consist of handling visa applications from Chinese citizens wishing to travel to Denmark.

You will become part of busy team. The demand for visa from China to Schengen is increasing and there is a great focus on our work from both Danish and Chinese authorities, the business community and the tourism industry. You must handle the applications in a service-minded manner while at the same time pay great attention to rules and regulations, which Denmark is part of in the Schengen cooperation. You will take part in making the final decision for approvals or rejection of applications. In practice, it involves interviews with hosts in Denmark, assessment of the information on the application and supporting documents put forward by the applicants, always paying attention to details.

As a Visa Officer you will need to demonstrate sound judgement and ability to handle complex Schengen rules, always delivering results with a high level of service that will match Denmark`s elevated reputation in China.

Your job will also include assisting Danish citizens in China with passport applications and consular cases of various nature. During peak season, you must be willing and able to be flexible towards working hours outside of the Embassy’s normal working hours, 9-17.

Qualifications
We are looking for team-players, with an assertive personality and ability to stay focused under pressure.

• Relevant education or/and other relevant work experience
• Good language skills: fluent in Danish and/or English. Knowledge of Chinese language is an advantage, but not a requirement
• Able to handle stressful situations
• Always detail oriented and constant awareness of the visa work as an important tool to show the best of Denmark every time.
• Experience from working in a cross-cultural environment
• Able to work in a political environment
• Assertive personality and ability to maintain competent manners and a smile in difficult situations
• Flexible towards work tasks and hours

Employment conditions
• Standard working hours of 40 hours per week including 1 hour lunch
• 20 Annual paid holidays and local holidays, in accordance with the legally binding labor market rules and the local staff rules

• Salary in accordance with the China Mission’s salary policy that reflect qualifications and relevant experience
