The Royal Danish Consulate in Guangzhou is looking for a Visa and Consular Officer

Position: Visa and Consular Officer
Type of employment: Full time permanent employment on a local contract
Starting Date: January 1, 2019 – or as soon as possible
Location: The Royal Danish Consulate in Guangzhou

The visa and consular team consists of both Chinese and Danish members – a possibility to work with experienced colleagues in a multicultural environment.

The Visa & Consular Officer refers to the head and the Deputy of Mission.


Main tasks and responsibilities:

 
• Case processing of visa applications, residence permits and passport requests
• Authorized decision maker in question related to visas being capable of justifying decisions orally and in writing
• Processing of visa applications (verification of documents, interviewing applicants and references) and establishing the compliance with the rules
• Handling communication between applicants, external visa application centres, Danish Immigration Service, Danish and Chinese companies etc.
• Responsibility and surveillance of consular assistance to Danish citizens, including emergency cases and contact to Danish insurance companies, families, and local authorities in Denmark.

Requirements:

• Fluent command (mother tongue level) of Danish Language or one of the Nordic Languages orally and in writing.
• Previous job experience from living in Denmark or in one of the Nordic countries with solid knowledge of Nordic culture, history, geography and society.
• Excellent command of English, both oral and written
• Service-minded and a good team player

Terms of Appointment:

The Visa and Consular Officer will be appointed according to Staff Rules for local staff at the Consulate General of Denmark with expected start date 1st of January 2019 or soonest thereafter.

The salary will be based on experience and skills. The successful applicant will undergo on-the-job training at the Consulate General and possible in Denmark.
