The Royal Danish Embassy in Beijing is looking for a Senior Commercial Officer for the Health and Life Sciences Team

The Royal Danish Embassy is looking to recruit an energetic, results-oriented business and partnerships developer with in-depth experience from the healthcare and life sciences sector and good understanding of the China FDA to take on a full-time position as a Senior Commercial Officer.
Your job will be to support Danish healthcare companies, in commercial and strategic development in China.

The Trade Council (TC) is fully integrated with the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. TC assists and promotes Danish companies’ interests in China. TC consists of 5 different industry teams with around 80 employees in 5 different locations in China. You will be a member of the Health and Life Sciences team, which consist of 8 commercial officers and you will be reporting to the Beijing-based Head of Health and Life Sciences. You will be working closely with colleagues in Shanghai, Chongqing, Guangzhou and Taipei. We offer a challenging work environment where you need to combine independent work with a high degree of team-work.

The Trade Council provides access to China for Danish companies by a range of services:

• Public Affairs, Market Access and Regulatory Affairs advisory
• Business partnering
• Market Analysis and Market Entry Strategies
• Partner Search (Sourcing and Sales)
• Establishment of company set up in China
• Tax and Legal Counselling including IPR at basic non-attorney level

Analysis
You will provide high-level research, consultancy services and business development services with focus on sustaining strong governmental and commercial relations between Denmark and China.

Your work will include:

• Market research incl. understanding of distribution system, demographics and OTC business
• Mapping of potential Chinese partners + initiate contact
• Mapping of potential partners in South East Asia + initiate contact
• Competitive situation
• Consumer insights
• Follow up on regulatory development

Business Development Coordination
• Coordinate different stakeholder engagement activities, e.g.
• Meetings
• Follow up / Interaction / Communication with authorities, consultants and others
• Provide support for relevant studies and partnership projects
• Translation tasks as needed
• Potential support of Supply Chain initiatives
Required Qualifications
We are looking for a business development professional with excellent interpersonal skills, an ability to ensure timely, high quality deliverables and, preferably, with experience in the health and life sciences industry. It is considered a strong asset if applicant has a health related academic background.

• Excellent command of English and Mandarin - both oral and written. An advantage if studied / worked in an English speaking country
• Analytical mindset – excel
• Structured mindset and excellent planning and coordination skills.
•  “Go do it-type” – likes to work independently
• OTC or Life Sciences background preferable – alternatively, consumer goods background
• Minimum undergraduate degree in business with 3-5 years work experience
• Flexibility to travel internationally up to 20%
• Experience in executing consultancy services as well as strong commercial sense
• Experience in working with foreign enterprises
• Bachelor or Master’s Degree in business.
• International experience, possibly from studies or working abroad or working in an international company
• Experience working with Chinese officials is an advantage.
• Experience within the governmental affairs in China
• Creative, self-motivated, independent and self-starter by nature.
• Solid skills within MS Office and general good IT skills
• Great team player abilities and able to knowledge sharing
