The launch of the ‘China-Denmark Year of Tourism’ combined with an increased interest among Chinese citizen in visiting Northern Europe and Schengen has created a demand for new visa-staff at our missions in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou.

The Danish missions in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou are therefore searching for energetic and systematic persons for new positions as locally employed Visa and Consular Officer to be employed as soon as possible.


 

Job Description

As a visa officer your work will primarily consist of handling visa applications from Chinese citizens wishing to travel to Denmark and Iceland.

The visa officer`s duty is to receive visa applications, interview applicants, check correctness of all the information provided by applicants, communicate with parties relevant for the case handling and in fraud revealing, writing reports and recommending approvals or rejection of applications. In practice it involves interviews with applicants, telephone calls to banks, employers, and numerous other references put forward by the applicants, paying attention always to details. .

There is a great focus on our work from both Danish and Chinese authorities. As a visa officer you will need to demonstrate sound judgement and ability to handle complex Schengen rules, always delivering results with a high level of service that will match Denmark`s elevated reputation in China.

You job will also include assisting Danish citizen in China with passport applications and consular cases of various nature.


 

Qualifications

We are looking for team-players, with an assertive personality and ability to keep the overview under pressure.

  • Relevant higher education
  • Good language skills: fluent in Chinese and English. Knowledge of Danish language is an advantage, but not a requirement (For Chinses applicants)
  • Good language skills: fluent in Danish and English. Knowledge of Chinese language is an advantage, but not a requirement (For Nordic applicants)
  • Relevant work experience
  • Always detail oriented and constant awareness of the visa work as an important tool to show the best of Denmark every time.
  • Experience from working in a cross-cultural environment
  • Comfortable working in a political environment
  • Assertive personality and ability to maintain competent manners and a smile in difficult situations.

About the visa department
The Danish missions in China issue more than 30,000 visa per year to Chinese travelling to Denmark and the Schengen. A great part of the visa applicants travels in the summer season creating the busiest season of the year. We have both Danes and Chinese employed in the department.
