The Royal Danish Embassy in China and China’s biggest online-to-offline local life service platform Meituan-Dianping signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation of Online Promotion of Denmark in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, on Sunday, 12 of March.

The agreement, signed between A. Carsten Damsgaard, Ambassador of Denmark to China and Lou Xiaobo, Vice President of Meituan-Dianping, aims to offer Chinese travelers practical information about Danish visa application and travel advice.

Visiting Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anders Samuelsen, witnessed the signing of this remarkable cooperation agreement.

“To better help Chinese tourists enjoy Denmark, we are looking at the consumer habits in China, and here it is very important to be on the digital platforms that Chinese citizens use. Therefore, we have signed this agreement with Meituan-Dianping,” said Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anders Samuelsen.

“We will deliver better content about Denmark as well as Danish places of interests, including restaurants, museums and hotels to Chinese consumers on these platforms.”

According to the agreement, recommended shops, restaurants, hotels, museums, amusement parks and places of interest with best reviews across Denmark will be listed on the website and mobile App platforms of Meituan-Dianping for customers to refer to.

This also marks Denmark’s latest move to attract more Chinese outbound tourists, following the official launch of the China-Denmark Tourism Year 2017 on Friday, 24 of February. During the year-long event, a long list of activities and programs aimed at promoting tourism in both countries will be launched.
