Today the Mayor of Beijing, Mr Guo Jinlong, and the Lord Mayor of Copenhagen, Mr Frank Jensen, signed a mutual agreement between their two cities at Beijing City Hall.

Lord Mayor Jensen underlined that the agreement was a sign of the good relations between China and Denmark:

“Our two countries have strong and friendly ties, and I am very honoured that Beijing took this initiative,” says Lord Mayor Frank Jensen. “The agreement between Beijing and Copenhagen fits well into the national agreement on collaboration between China and Denmark.”

The two capitals have shared interests in the area of sustainable urban development. The sister city agreement is to help improve collaboration in the areas of sustainable solutions, energy efficiency, culture, health and science.

Tomorrow, Lord Mayor Frank Jensen will speak at the Beijing Forum on Sustainable Development of Cities, and at the EU conference “Sustainable Urbanisation Seminar”, where Danish and Chinese decision-makers and entrepreneurs will exchange experiences on green solutions in urban environments.
