Happy Healthy and Creative Children

Happy kids and parents flooded the embassy compound for a day full of fun and focus on Children’s health, play and learning.

Two little girls are jumping up and down in excitement outside the embassy compound.

- They have been looking so much forward to come and play, says their mother.

For one day the embassy compound has been transformed into a Danish children’s universe created to inspire imaginative learning and a healthy, active lifestyle.

Some kids are running across the lawn as soon as they see the little pony Billy, others are listening to H.C. Andersen’s fairy tales read aloud by the embassy interns or wait in line to get into the big Lego playroom. Most of the kids are wearing a big pointy wizard’s hat on their head donated by Novo Nordisk and the kids as well as their parents seems to have fun. And having fun is exactly the plan:

- We want to empower children and parents to share some precious moments together today with an emphasis on playing, being active, creating new things and making healthy choices, says ambassador A. Carsten Damsgaard.

This one-day experience at the Royal Danish Embassy in Beijing has taken place for the last three years in a row and is taking place one week before the International Children’s Day. The idea is to promote Danish values when it comes to Children’s well-being, happiness, creativity, active livestyle as well as to teach Children to make healthy choices, the ambassador continues.

One of the companies that has been a part of the event for three years in a row is Lego:

- It is a fantastic opportunity for families to have a great day together and for Danish companies to show what we stand for at what opportunities we can bring to the Chinese, says Vice President for Lego in China, Kathrine Kirk Muff.

On stage the Danish performer, actor and musician Thomas Sandberg is playing the last song. At the area of Gerlev Sports Acdemy a kid is having the very last swing of the day. A day full of fun has come to an end. A day where parents and kids have been challenged, entertained and stimulated in many different ways. Without the many specially designed activities organised by Danish companies and other event partners it would not have been possible. We look forward to doing it all again in 2019.
